Our friend ennuiforeva gave us a juicer for a wedding present. It makes amazing juice! Rayna’s first attempt was beetroot, carrot and apple.
It throws out this pulp mess which I didn’t want o throw away, so I made these raw crackers by mixing the pulp with ground flax, spreading it on a cookie sheet and dehydrating it on a low oven setting.
I’m trying to figure out a good dip to go with these. Any ideas?
I’ve been washing my hair in baking soda for the past few months. Occasionally I condition with cider vinegar. It’s amazing how nice my hair feels—and good to know it is chemical-free these days. Honestly, the amount of money I used to waste on shampoo and conditioner, and my hair always felt dry, or flyaway. This is so much nicer.
Try it! Seriously.
This is Day 7.
I’m back on track with a healthier lifestyle. Even started running again, and ran this morning at 5.30 am, prior to going to my 7 am AA meeting. It was dusky, and skunks lurked in the bushes by the creek. The air smelled fresh and woody.
I can breathe!
Kale & Nut Salad
Almost-but-not-quite completely raw…
Raw Kale, shredded carrots, chopped spring onions, organic raisins. Topped with pan-roasted sunflower seeds, slivered almonds, sea salt and fresh ground pepper. Dressed with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Almost raw, completely tasty.
Pink Mango Protein Shake
Blend fresh mango, frozen organic raspberries (from Sprouts), walnuts, almonds, pinch of coriander, and coconut water. Pour over fresh, chopped kiwi. Sprinkle with coriander and grated nutmeg. Drink the shake, then eat the mushy kiwi residue with a spoon. Totally breakfast!
Cucumber, Pineapple & Mint Shake
I tried out this drink. So good. Light and refreshing—more of a summer drink though, than an autumn one. Thanks, Fruit & Tea.
Pear & Walnut Protein Shake
A healthy, dairy-free breakfast shake made with fresh pears, walnuts, raspberries, and coconut water. Topped with grated nutmeg and whole raspberries. Banana-free! The pears create the thickness.
Papaya and pear salad, topped with walnuts and green beans, dressed with olive oil and fresh lemon, spiced with black pepper and cardamom. Eaten by me.
